The Cultural Connotation And Language Expression Of The Theme Of Taihu Lake Stone Painting In Song Dynasty

The period of the Song dynasty was one of the most remarkable periods of economy and culture in China history.The culture of stone appreciation and painting of it also reached their prosperous and glorious era during this period,and people had a unique aesthetic appreciation of "stone".The character of "Shou,Jian,An and Shi" had been highly praised by litterateurs and painters.It gradually established the culture of stone appreciation in the later cultural history.With the rise of the culture of stone appreciation,the scholar-bureaucrats placed rare stones in their mansions as landscape scenery,which started the prevailing of stone appreciation.Ji Zhao,emperor of the North Song dynasty who is called Song Hui-zong,was also a fan of Taihu Lake Stone.By creating "the shipping of rare rocks" to collect Taihu Lake Stone,he built a royal garden named "Gen Yue",which regarded as the most standing gardening of rare stone.The culture of stone appreciation and the aesthetic ideology derived a revolution,leading to a new aesthetic standard,that is,Mifu put forward "shou,lou,zhou,tou" as the principle of stone appreciation until today.At the same time,the appreciation of stone painting also reached an important development,Taihu Lake Stone began to appear in a large number of paintings,and reached its peak in the Song dynasty's paintings.The images of Taihu Lake Stone in Song dynasty are mostly as landscape formal elements,and there are also paintings with Taihu Lake Stone as the subject.Such as the elaborately drawn painting "Xiang Long Shi Tu"(auspicious dragon and stone picture)which painting method tends to be perfect,a painting using the way of “Gou Zou Dian Ran”,ink and wash which is named "Ku Mu Guai Shi Tu"(withered wood and rare stone picture),and being form ofbeautiful posture and elegant color called "Ren Shou Tu "(benevolence and longevity picture)and so on.They gave literator some feelings and cultural taste in painting,and also created a variety of Taihu Lake Stone painting methods.Based on the expression of stone appreciation culture in Song dynasty paintings,takes Gen Yue as the creativing blueprint to analyze the painting method of some Song dynasty Taihu Lake Stone paintings,and applies the research results to the creation painting which is the garden theme of Taihu Lake Stone.Based on gardens in the Song dynasty,this paper studies and sorts out historical documents,archival record and real objects.Through a series of artistic practical creations,this paper summarizes the cultural connotation of Taihu Lake Stone in Song dynasty and its expression in the current cultural context.
