A Study On The Stone Carving Art Of Aquarium Tombs

Stone carvings can be found on many tombs and the history of stonecarvings can even be traced back to the paleolithic period two hundredthousand years ago. In the long history of the Chinese nation, stonecarvings illuminates not only the process of civilization but also thecustums of culture of the nation. The tombs and tombstone carvings of theShui people (a ethnic group) in Guizhou province presents one of thetraditional cultures of the Shui people.With on-site investigation and literature consulting，the study of theShui people’s tombstone carving art in this thesis mainly focuses onhistory backgrounds, subjects and contents, features, cultural contents,spirits and etc. Methods as comparison analysis on art forms andmulti-discipline studies are also used in this thesis.
