With the deepening of curriculum reform,the proposal of discipline core quality brings new challenges to classroom teaching.How to improve the teaching quality in class,promote the students' core English literacy and the development of learning ability is a new issue faced by primary school English teachers.Unit teaching design under the background of integration has become an important element of the success or failure of the English language teaching.Content integration is one of the important measures based on the standard criteria,and it is the essential quality to achieve the goal.Its ultimate aim is to cultivate students' coherent expression ability,improve their ability to access to information and their comprehensibility of language use.This paper expounds the background and significance of the thesis from the aspects of the development of primary school English subject teaching,the needs of primary school English classroom teaching,and the needs of the improvement of students' pragmatic ability.According the definition of the unit integration concepts and the principles of unit integration,the author sums up the previous research done by various scholars on unit integration teaching.It introduces the theoretical basis of content integration from three aspects: holistic language teaching theory,constructive cognitive theory and the characteristics of primary school students' cognitive development.This paper also carries on questionnaire survey about content integration based on unit integrity instruction to 30 teachers in 7 schools in Shanghai,which provides the realistic basis for the teaching practice exploration.The author carries out empirical study of unit integration teaching in the two classes of Grade 4and tries to prove that unit integration teaching improves teaching quality.And the author also makes a comparison of the students' test results to prove that unit integration teaching improve students' learning interests and abilities.In this paper,the author narrate the primary school English teaching practice and research based on unit integration instruction.She analyzes the lesson investigation and questionnaire to find out the difficulties and problems of unit integration.Within theoretical and practical research,this paper gets the result of unit integrity basis and strategies from unit objectives,sub-topic,task and context.At last the conclusion is drawn: The implementation of content integration based on unit integrity instruction helps to optimize English classroom teaching,toenhance teachers' subject knowledge attainment,to deepen students' real application experience and to improve students' comprehensive language ability.
