Ingma Bergman is one of the three most respected writers in the world film history. In the mid-1950 s,Bergman's two masterpieces Seventh Seal(1956)and Wild Strawberry(1957)came out one after another, which almost won the praise of the international film circles. Therefore, the international film circles welcomed the "Bergman Fever".There seems to be no doubt that Bergman is recognized as the most distinctive "film writer" in modern film history. His series of classical films opened up a new field of film performance and made important contributions to the development of film art.Bergman's film almost perfectly presents all the features of "Author's Film".In Bergman's films, all but the early ones were written and directed by himself. In addition,Bergman's films have a very distinct and consistent aesthetic style and thematic personality. His image world is very personal and subjective. He describes the oldest and sharpest series of problems facing human beings through exploring the inner world of the characters.Through the study of Bergman's growth, theme expression and audiovisual style, this paper explores the reasons why he became the "three authors".The paper is divided into six parts. The introduction part discusses the current research situation of Bergman films at home and abroad and the problems to be studied in this paper,as well as the ideas and methods of the research and the difficulties and innovations of the research. In the first chapter, the author first defines and combs the basic viewpoint and development context of the concept of "Author's Theory",which is the method of film criticism,in order to lay a theoretical foundation for the study of Bergman's films by using the theory of "Author's Film".Chapter two discusses the growing soil of Bergman's film writers from three aspects: regional culture and era background, growth process and creation process. The third chapter, the theme of Bergman's films is autobiographical. His doubts about the existence of God,the weakness of man in family and marriage, and his thoughts on life and death, good and evil can all be traced back to his growth.Combining with specific films, this chapter demonstrates the autobiography in Bergman's film theme from three aspects: sacredness and human desire, marriage and family, and self-portrait of life. The fourth chapter,Bergman's films have always expressed the subject's self-knowledge and described the issues facing human existence in the way of "soul torture".Therefore,Bergman's films often use subjective audio-visual style to guide the audience unconsciously to follow the characters in the films into meditation. Therefore, this chapter focuses on the analysis of Bergman's unique audio-visual expression from two aspects: the subjective image style and the deep voice of the soul, that is,image and music. In the concluding part, summarizes the full text and discusses the practical significance of Bergman's films combined with the characteristics of Bergman's films.
