| The novel of She Diao Ying Xiong Zhuan by Jin Yong has aroused social attention since its publication.Legends of the Condor Heroes-A Hero Born,its English translation,has been published in 2018 by MacLehose Press.However,apart from several English book reviews,there has been no academic journal article or dissertation on Anna Holmwood's translation of She Diao Ying Xiong Zhuan.Therefore,this dissertation selects She Diao Ying Xiong Zhuan Volume?and its English translation Legends of the Condor Heroes-A Hero Born as its research object,seeking to answer these questions: What changes and phenomena have taken place from She Diao Ying Xiong Zhuan Volume?to Legends of the Condor Heroes-A Hero Born? What strategy of the translator can be revealed from these changes and phenomena? How the English translation is generally accepted in English-speaking countries?Guided by the theoretical perspectives of Professor Xie Tianzhen's Yijiexue,this dissertation is a descriptive research on Legends of the Condor Heroes-A Hero Born and its acceptance based on adequate data and detailed analysis.Through the research,we can conclude Anna Holmwood's strategy in the translation process of She Diao Ying Xiong Zhuan Volume?,that is a consideration of the novel's Chinese characteristics,original author and text as well as of reading fluency,different language systems and cultural backgrounds.As for spread and acceptance,the English readers generally appreciate the novel's publication,spread of Chinese culture,guarantee of reading fluency,at the same time,readers criticize that the translation is not strictly technical and academic. |
