David Bordwell is a famous American film scholar who has achieved rich results in the fields of film history,film theory and film criticism.Guided by the "middle level"theory,he has continuously studied in the three directions of film narrative,film poetics and film criticism,and revised it in criticism and discussion to form a unique film ideology.Not only that,he is also a veteran film professor whose film education thought is based on long-term film education practice and film theory research,scattered in his film theory books.With more than 30 years of experience,he has a deep understanding of film education.David Bordwell's film education thought is that because of its unique visual and mechanical reproduction,the film can provide targeted training for film teaching to enhance students' abilities.He believes that narrative teaching focuses on strengthening students' innovative thinking.It not only needs to understand the traditional paradigm of film,but also enhance students' sensibility.It is also an important part of narrative teaching.Commentary teaching focuses on cultivating students' discriminating ability.Students should respond to various forms of film commentary.It involves the cultivation of "problem consciousness" on the basis of practice;the history theory teaching is to consolidate the students' historical basis and requires students to have broad historical perspectives and historical concepts,and value the value of "old movies".David Bordwell's film education thought has a reference and leading role in the development of Chinese film education.In terms of educational methods,David Bordwell formed a unique method of film education based on the comprehensive art form of the film,combined with case-based teaching and practical teaching method.On the one hand,David uses the case teaching method to encourage students to find problems,ask questions and solve problems according to specific events in the form of "cases" and "problems",which is conducive to students' self-motivation and dynamic growth.On the other hand,he adopts the practice teaching method and combines practice and theory to meet the high requirements of students for film learning.He believes that only diligent practice can truly master the methods and techniques of film review,and provide a template for students to learn to write.At the same time,he also encourages students to engage in a wide range of knowledge,requiring students to be good at thinking,diligent in practice,learn from others,improve their scientific knowledge,form rational thinking and generate creative personality,and stand out among film practitioners.
