This translation material,in a bid to offer a picture of the local conditions and customs of the county to the foreigners,presents the county in terms of its cultural identify,historical evolution,geographical environment,ecological construction,cultural development,urbanization construction,and tourism resources.That is why it comes in an English version to help foreigners get a deeper understanding and perspective of the county.This report takes the Chinese City of Paintings Pizazzy Tonglu,a publicity material of beautiful villages,as the research text,to translate it into English,aiming to explore the difficulties in translating publicity texts and the countermeasures.This report is divided into five parts.Frist,the report reviews the background,current situation and significance.Second,it elaborates on the translation process,including preparation before translation,recording in translation and review after translation.Third,analysis of concrete cases is conducted by following the principle of equivalence in publicity translation,along with the challenges,as well as strategies and specific methods used to address the problems,with a focus on translation analysis at the lexical and sentence level,including strategies and methods used in translating Chinese unthematic sentences,ideational active sentences,and many short sentences.Fourth,the article arrives at some conclusions,and some suggestions.Fifth,an appendix is supplied.Translation practice helps the author to see that translation of publicity texts requires not only "faithfulness" and "smoothness",but also the "three principles of external publicity".That is,attention must be paid to the reading experience of the target language readers,so that they get the same experience as the source language readers.By reflecting and reviewing the difficulties in translation,the author acquires a deeper knowledge of the translation of publicity texts.It is hoped that this report may prove valuable for future translation of similar publicity texts.
