Study On "Cong X" Mode Words

In this thesis,six mode words covering “Cong kuai,Cong Yan,Cong Zhong,Cong Xin,Cong Zhong” are selected as the object of study.Based on linguistic facts,this thesis is concerned with the exploration of the process and causing reasons for the grammaticalization and lexicalization of “Cong X” mode words(hereinafter referred to as “Cong X”)from the diachronic perspective,the analysis on lexical,semantic and pragmatic features of “Cong X” from the synchronic perspective,and finally the study on the significance of grade difference evaluation on“Cong X” from the perspective of evaluation theory.This thesis consists of five chapters.The introduction,which briefs the object of study,research status,existent problems,research significance,research methods and source of corpus.This part makes a classified summary on the overall study and case study on mode words,and later reaches a conclusion that there have already been many studies on the classification of word class,range,typical characteristics,grammaticalization and lexicalization of mode words,while deep-level case studies are few in number.The first chapter probes into the grammaticalization,lexicalization and causes of " Cong X ".Since the word " Cong X " is derived from the lexicalization of "Cong+X",the evolution of the meaning of "Cong" is of great significance for the study of the grammaticalization of " Cong X ".Therefore,this chapter conducts an analysis on the dynamic process of semantic change of “Cong” from diachronic perspective,before shifting special efforts to the study on individual cases of the lexicalization of the six selected " Cong X " words on the basis of corpus.Finally,it is concluded that the root reason for the grammaticalization and lexicalization of “Cong X” lies in cognitive factors,frequency factors and syntactic environmental factors.The second chapter examines the syntactic,semantic and pragmatic features of the " Cong X" from the perspective of synchronicity.According to thecharacteristics of the subject and predicate linked in the sentence from the "Cong X",the “Cong X” mode words can be classified into "Cong Kuai" and "Cong Tou",and the semantic features and semantic orientations of these two types of words are discussed respectively.Finally,from the perspective of pragmatics,the pragmatic functions and stylistic distribution of the words " Cong X " are analyzed.Based on the evaluation theory,the third chapter analyzes the grade difference evaluation of “Cong X” class words from the dynamic perspective,and concludes the significance of the level difference evaluation in four aspects: strength,order,time frequency and range.Finally,the conclusion part summarizes the content of this thesis,and points out the shortcomings of the research.
