The source materials of the translation practice report are the second chapter “Greek” of Travel in the History of Architecture.The text mainly focuses on the ancient Greek architectural style,architectural form,size,scale,layout,materials and functions.The translation,to some degree,can help domestic researchers know about the classical Greek and Roman architectures and different styles of the later construction projects in Europe,understand and reflect on the cultural relics protection from different perspectives.The translation practice report includes four parts.The first part is the description of the translation task,which mainly introduces the source of the translation materials,the author and the text,the significance of the topic selected.The second part focuses on the description of the translation process,including the analysis of the original text,the selection of translation methods and auxiliary tools.The third part is the analysis of some typical translation cases.Some key and difficult examples are analyzed from the aspects of vocabulary,syntax and discourse.At the lexical level,the translation of architectural proper nouns,common words and prepositional phrases and the transformation of parts of speech are discussed.At the syntactic level,long and difficult sentences,such as attributive clauses and adverbial clauses in English are selected.The discourse level is analyzed from the aspects of context and coherence.The fourth part is the summary of translation practice.This translation practice makes the present author better realize the importance of mastering the techniques of bilingual translation,fully understanding the professional background knowledge involved and broadening the domain of knowledge accumulation.
