With the rapid economic growth of Chinese middle class,more and more Chinese students choose to pursue overseas study in Canada.Since 2007,the number of Chinese international students has always been top one among international students in Canada.Since Justin Trudeau came to power,the bilateral relations between China and Canada seem optimistic.There is a growing trend that more and more Chinese international students will go to Canada to pursue overseas study.Considering that the continuous increase of Chinese overseas students in Canada and their important role to foster people-to-people cultural exchange,this research aims to study the influencing factors of academic writing from the perspective of academic adaptation in order to provide effective suggestions to Canadian and domestic universities,and Chinese international students and further to help them foster academic adaptation.Academic adaptation is one of dimensions of cross-cultural adaptation for international students and academic writing is one of academic problems Chinese international students encounter during their overseas study,because English academic writing is a more comprehensive and challenging skill.This research,according to the framework of The International Academic Adjustment Model proposed by Jennifer Wu Dunn and literature review,establishes an adjusted framework of academic writing and adopts a quantitative method to analyze the possible factors influencing the academic writing of Chinese international students in Canada.The participants are mainly from University of Toronto,University of Alberta,Concordia University,McGill University,University of British Columbia,York University,Carleton University,Macmaster University.Queens University,Simon Fraser University,University of Calgary,University of Waterloo and University of Windsor,104 in total.After linear regression analysis by SPSS 23,Personal English Skill for Academic Writing,Interactions with Foreign faculty,Personal Expectation for Academic Writing,University Support for Academic Writing,Predeparture Preparation for Academic Writing and Interpersonal Relationship can explain 49.5%,29.1%,1 7.5%,14.8%,1 0.0%and 7.2%variance of academic writing skill.After multiple linear regression analysis.the regress equation is that English Academic Writing Skill is equal + 0.624 x Personal English Skill for Academic Writing+ 0.180 xInteractions with Foreign Faculty-0.110 x Financial Situation.Then,according to one linear regression analysis and multiple linear regression analysis,practical implications and discussions are done to make the research finding more specific and provide effective suggestions to Canadian and domestic universities and Chinese international students.
