In recent years,more and more international students choose to study Chinese in China.When they study in a foreign social and cultural environment,there will inevitably be academic adaptation problems,and the degree of academic adaptation will have an impact on their academic achievements and learning mentality.It is very important to study the adaptation of overseas students in China,which is not only related to the development of their studies,but also related to the quality of foreign students' education in universities in China.At the intermediate stage,international students have a certain degree of study base.They are in a dynamic process of constant change in learning adaptation.This paper makes an investigation on the academic adaptation of the middle-level international students in China,in order to understand their cross-cultural academic adaptation,their lack and needs of academic adaptation.Then through the survey results to analyze the relevant factors that affect the academic adaptation of foreign students,and finally put forward suggestions to promote the level of foreign students' academic adaptation.In this study,91 middle-level foreign students from Dalian University of Foreign Languages were selected as the survey subjects.The combination of questionnaires and interviews was used to examine the situation of foreign students' academic adaptation.The questionnaire included two parts: personal situation and three dimensions' questions of self adjustment,teaching environment and interpersonal emotion.The data were statistically analyzed by SPSS20.0.It concludes the overall situation of foreign students' academic adaptation and their representations in three dimensions and seven aspects.Based on the interviews with five international students,the paper presents the academic adaptation of foreign students.The results show that middle-level international students' academic adaptation is quite good,but there are also imbalances and differences.Most of the international students are satisfied with their study in China,but their adaptation in interpersonal communication and learning mood is not so good,which needs to be improved.International students have some urgent needs in curriculum,Chinese learning methods,and communication with Chinese students.The factors that affect the academic adaptability of foreign students are region,age,years of Chinese learning and HSK level.Among them,the latter three are the main influencing factors with significant differences.In view of the above results,this paper points out some corresponding suggestions,and hopes to promote the academic adaptation of foreign students.
