This paper studies the Short Cut to Western Mandarin,written by Amundsen,a Norwegian missionary to China in the 20 th century,This is a Speedy-up oral textbook for the study of Southwest Mandarin.This paper examines the background and selection of the book,analyzes the unique amundsen syllables in southwest mandarin,studies the anthology and extinction of Chinese words in the textbook,and describes,analyzes and reveals the grammatical points.The thesis is divided into six chapters:The first chapter is the introduction,which explains the significance of the topic,The study of Short Cut to Western Mandarin in this paper can enrich the case study of Mandarin Textbooks in Western China and the Study of the History of Chinese Language Education in Countries;This paper attempts to reveal the oral pronunciation of Southwest Mandarin at that time and provide historical data for the study of spoken Southwest Mandarin at present,At the same time,it reviews the research on Norwegian Sinological History,Missionaries' Dialect Works and Amundsen's books..The Second chapter introduce Amundsen's life,analyzes the background,style and structure of Short Cut to Western Mandarin,Amundsen mainly in Tibet,and Yunnan-Guizhou Sichuan-Tibet missionary activities,especially in Tibet is very understanding,such as language,customs.The orientation of this textbook is simple,elementary,quick and Romanized spelling,and the object of study is the western missionaries living in the southwest of China and all Westerners who come to visit,inspect and travel in China.The third chapter investigates the sound and rhyme system of "Amundsen syllable list",compares the similarities and differences between this syllable list and other syllables in the same period,and thinks that this syllable list has its own unique advantages.The fourth chapter inspects the Short Cut to Western Mandarin words distribution and characteristics of its vocabulary and vocabulary distribution is reasonable,practical content,as well as the teaching material of dialect words from the synchronic plane and plane,think dialectal words correct and reasonable,some dialect words today is dead,can help us to understand the history of one hundred years ago in the southwest mandarin dialect words.The fifth chapter analyzes and counts the grammatical points in the Short Cut to Western Mandarin,and thinks that the grammatical points are arranged reasonably,the key points and difficult points are prominent,and the use cases are abundant.But there are also some grammatical errors.The sixth Chapter comments on the advantages and disadvantages of the whole book.The compilation of the textbook follows the principle of from easy to difficult and from shallow to deep,which conforms to the characteristics of learners' learning,and the topics chosen are practical and in line with the spoken practice of Southwest Mandarin.It is beneficial to the cultivation of students' communicative competence.However,due to its simplicity,part of the content appears rough and the neglect of written language,it is not conducive to students' further learning of Chinese.
