The Study On Cotton Textile Trade In Northeast China Of The United States(1861-1931)

As the focus of international interest disputes in modern history,the trade of Northeast China is highly dependent on foreign countries.However,the United States actively participated in the aggressive act of carving up northeast China and launched fierce competition with other countries in the northeast cotton textile trade market,which further highlighted the importance of strategic location of northeast China and proved the particularity of cotton textile trade as well.Northeast China had advantageous geographical position and abundant natural resources,but was limited by the policy of prohibition,there’s almost no foreign trade.Therefore,it urgently needs to be developed.In 1861,Yingkow was opened to trade,the trade of Northeast China with inside Shanhaiguan pass growing day by day,meanwhile,foreign institutions were set up continuously,capitalist countries were dumping commodities on the northeast market,and the US cotton textile trade in the Northeast was gradually launched.At the beginning of the US cotton textile trade in northeast China,the British cotton fabrics monopolized market,and then the United States took advantage of raw materials and low price to compete with the British,cutting the market share of the British in the northeast.During the First Sino-Japanese War,Japan began to import cotton textiles to the northeast region,but the total amount of imports was too small to get a place.After the Russo-Japanese War,Japan occupied the south manchuria area and tried its best to control the foreign trade of Dairen port.A large number of Japanese fabrics into the northeast market,the United States also had a rapid growth,and competed fiercely with Japanese goods.After World War I,Japan continued to expand its influence in the northeast cotton fabrics market,resulting in a sharp decline in the market share of American cotton textiles.Eventually,American stopped exporting cotton fabrics to the northeast region.The cotton textiles trade of the United States in Northeast China lasted for more than 60 years,and its competition in the market was changing with the different situation in northeast China.During this period,it had shown a diversified structure,a centralized regional structure,and volatility trade trends.In addition,the cotton fabrics trade of the United States in northeast China had a strong colonial and aggressive nature.On the one hand,it stimulated the development of the trade between northeast China and Shanhaiguan,on the other hand,it caused the local cotton trade increasingly deformed,hindering the transformation and progress of the Northeast cotton textile industry.
