A Study On The Fur Trade Between The United States And Northeast China In Modern Times (1861-1931)

Northeast China has a vast territory and abundant animals and plant resources,which provides natural favorable conditions for the development of fur trade.Meanwhile,fur trade,as an important part of Northeast China’s foreign trade,also plays an important role in Northeast China’s foreign trade.The development of Northeast fur trade in modern times has experienced a long process,it can be divided four stages,the first one is the beginning of fur trade,the second one is the clear development of fur trade,the third one is the fur trade development into a new stage,and finally is to the fur trade fluctuation development.After the port was opened in Northeast China,the fur industry in Northeast China gradually entered the foreign trade market,and became one of the main trade items with many countries,in these countries,fur trade with the United States is very important.The fur trade between the United States and Northeast China developed along with the development of the fur trade in northeast China in modern times.On the whole,it was divided into two stages by the Russo-Japanese War.Before the outbreak of the Russo-Japanese War,the total volume and trade volume of fur trade between the United States and Northeast China were not significant,and there was competition with Russia in fox skin and sable skin,etc.Russia shipped these furs from northeast China through land ports due to its geographical advantages.The fur trade between the United States and the Northeast was mainly reflected in the fur products,among which the dog skin mats and rugs was the most popular in the American market.After the end of the Russo-Japanese War,Japan strengthened its control over Northeast China and competed with the United States in fur trade,which showed that the import volume and export volume of fur from northeast China were weaker than Japan,and finally lost the fur trade competition with Japan.After the September 18 Incident,ports in northeast China were closed one after another.The fur trade between the United States and northeast China was coming to an end.The fur trade between the United States and Northeast China for more than 70 years on the one hand promoted the development of fur breeding,processing and sales and other related industries.On the other hand,the number of wild animals in Northeast China was hunted and reduced,resulting in the destruction of the natural environment in Northeast China in modern times.
