A Study Of Female Images In Dunhuang Frescoes In The Period Of Cao's Painting Academy

Dunhuang Grottoes have been an important transportation hinge on the ancient Silk Road since the Han Dynasty.Their murals are rich in content and retain a large number of art treasures.They are the most reliable relics for the study of female images.Cao's Painting Academy was in the Five Dynasties and the Northern Song Dynasty.In order to stabilize the regime and highly praise Buddhism,the Cao's Guiyi Army maintained close ties with the Central Plains.Through marriage,the relationship between Cao's Painting Academy and the surrounding Uighurs and Yutian was stabilized.It also established a Painting Academy in imitation of the Central Plains,which made the murals in this period show both unique and unified characteristics.Based on the Dunhuang murals,taking the period of Cao's Painting Academy as the research background,and taking the female images in Dunhuang murals as the research object,this paper studies the image characteristics of Bodhisattva,Feitian,Music and Dance Career and female supporters in the period of Cao's Painting Academy in Dunhuang murals from the aspects of shape,clothing and decoration,and analyses and compares them with the changes of female images in other Dunhuang murals.The structure is divided into four parts.The first part analyses the historical background of the period of Cao's Painting Academy and the influence of the prosperity of Buddhism,the development of economy and the blending of ethnic relations on the development of Dunhuang murals;the second part summarizes the data of female images in Dunhuang murals during the period of Cao's Painting Academy,which is an important basis for later research;the third part,the period of Cao's Painting Academy.Classification of female images,focusing on the Dunhuang murals in women's shape,clothing and decoration characteristics;Part IV,from the political,economic and multicultural development,summarizes the causes of changes in female images of Dunhuang murals in this period.Through the study,we can learn that the background factors of the times,such as political,economic development and cultural blending,are the main reasons for the changes of the female images in Dunhuang murals during the period of Cao's Painting Academy.It is hoped that the analysis and research of this topic can provide valuable professional research supplement for the study of female images in Dunhuang murals.
