Application Of Toury's Translation Norms In Online News Translation

This translation project report takes the author's practice in the news translation of China Daily as an example and,with the theory of translation norms as a strategic guideline,tries to analyze the translator's major choice,such as the norm close to source culture or target culture,translation strategies the translators used such as omission,amplification and conversion.In conclusion,this paper aims to prove the feasibility of Toury's translation norms in news English translation.In this report,the combination of theory and practice will be used in order to prove the feasibility of translation norms,which is of great benefit to the translator in the writing process of the translation project report.The translator expects that the translator's translation project report can achieve the desired result,and has certain positive effects on the translation theories' development,the application of Toury's translation norms,and the translation practice of English news in the future.Based on Toury's translation norms,this report will analyze translation material from initial norms,preliminary norms and operational norms,meanwhile describe and interpret the choice of the source text,directness of translation,translator's own view and specific strategies in translation words or sentences.The author hopes this report will give readers a deeper understanding of translation norms and some inspiration for the translation of Chinese Literature to the world.
