The Relationship Between Perfectionism And Life Satisfaction Of College Students:the Mediating Role Of Social Support

With the rise of positive psychology,the study of life satisfaction had received unprecedented attention.The group of college students is an important force for the construction and development of our country and the hope of our nation.Their perception of their own living conditions has an important impact on their personal and social development,so it is necessary to improve their life satisfaction.Previous studies have found that there are many factors affecting life satisfaction,among which perfectionism and social support are two important factors.In this study,the characteristics and status quo of perfectionism,social support and life satisfaction of college students were investigated by questionnaire survey,and the correlation among the three variables was analyzed to provide suggestions and inspiration for relevant theoretical research and college students' mental health education.This study selected the Nantong 600 college students in a university,the life satisfaction scale,multidimensional perfectionism scale and social support scale in perfectionism,social support and life satisfaction present situation and characteristics of the variable is analyzed and the effect of the interaction between different dimensions,the interaction model is established.The results were as follows:(1)The overall life satisfaction level of college students was relatively high,with significant differences in demographic variables.Among them,the life satisfaction of male students was significantly higher than that of female students,the life satisfaction of freshmen was significantly higher than that of juniors,and the life satisfaction of students whose families are located in cities was significantly higher than that of students from rural areas.The interaction effects of gender,grade and major on college students' life satisfaction,as well as gender,family location and major were significant.Among them,in the junior year,the life satisfaction of male students in liberal arts class was significantly higher than that of female students.Among the students whose families are located in rural areas,the life satisfaction of boys in liberal arts class was significantly higher than that of girls.College students have a higher level of positive perfectionism and a lower level of negative perfectionism.There were significant differences in gender and grade between negative perfectionism and male negative perfectionism.The level of male negative perfectionism was significantly lower than that of female students.The overall level of social support for college students was above the average,and there is a significant difference in family location,and the social support in urban areas was significantly higher than that in rural areas.Social support did not differ significantly in other demographic variables.(2)There was a significant correlation between perfectionism,social support and life satisfaction.Among them,there was a significant negative correlation between negative perfectionism and life satisfaction,a significant negative correlation between negative perfectionism and social support,and a significant positive correlation between social support and life satisfaction.There was a significant positive correlation between positive perfectionism and life satisfaction,between positive perfectionism and social support,and between social support and life satisfaction.(3)Social support played a partial mediating role between perfectionism and life satisfaction.
