The ability of creative problem finding is a thinking ability that is expressed in the process of discovering and proposing new problems, based on a certain purpose and existing experience. This ability is an important part of creative thinking, which is also an important manifestation of differences in the quality of personal thinking.Compared with problem solving, the ability of problem finding is more representative of the level of individual creativity. Therefore, the study of creative problem finding is crucial to revealing the essential characteristics of creativity.People has realized that creativity is the result of the interaction between genetics and the environment(G×E)in Galton era,but the importance of the two existed difference. In recent years, advances in molecular genetics have made it possible to specifically analyze the contributions and proportions of them.In the genetic basis of creativity research, many researchers value the predictive effect of genes associated with the dopamine(DA)neurotransmitter pathway. In the dopamine neurotransmitter pathway, the COMT gene is widely concerned by the researchers because it can affect the prefrontal cortex through its encoded COMT enzyme, which is responsible for important cognitive functions related to creativity.Among the environmental variables that affect creativity, the family environment has become the preferred variable for researchers because of its persistence and importance to human development.Among many family environment variables, parenting style is an important predictor. Most of the existing G×E(genetic and family environment)research is based on single SNP and their interaction with the environment, while the contribution of single SNP to creativity is trivial, and the effect of interaction effects is not fully estimated. In existing studies, the issue of gender differences closely related to genes(particularly the activity of the COMT gene and the allele frequency)has not been fully studied. Therefore, this study is to investigate the interaction of multi-site combination of COMT gene and parenting style on creative problem finding and its gender differences. The interaction model has always been an important issue for G×E researchers.“Diathesis-stress model”that focuses on negative environment and negative impacts believes that individuals carried risk alleles will be sensitive to negative environments, while“different susceptibility models”that focusing on positive and negative effects emphasizes the plasticity of people under different environmental conditions.By defining the significant intervals of environmental variables and setting the quantitative criteria for model judgment, the Regions of Significance can make a strict distinction between the two models. Therefore, this study will use this method to define the interaction model of COMT gene multi-site association with parenting style. In this study,244 college students were first subjected to venous blood collection.Based on previous studies,12 potential functional SNPs were selected for DNA extraction and genotyping. Then, the subjects were tested for the ability of creative problem finding and parenting style:the ability of creative problem finding is based on Runco Creativity Assessment Scale, parenting style is based on the Parental Authoritative Questionnaire compiled by Buri(1991).At the same time, the subject's intelligence was measured using the Raven Advanced Reasoning Test(APM),which was used as a covariate in data processing. The data was entered and analyzed by Excel and SPSS22.0,and the reliability and validity test was performed using Lisrel8.70.Within the scope of the sample, this study draws the following conclusions:1.Among the selected COMT genes,rs6267 polymorphism has a significant predictive effect on the flexibility dimension of the creative problem finding under recessive coding(R~2=0.02).Individuals carrying the homozygous TT genotype are more flexible than those with the G allele.2.COMT gene(multi-polymorphism)interacts with parenting style to predict creative problem finding.Male individuals carrying more susceptible alleles(CGSI1=2)showed higher levels of fluency and flexibility in creative problem finding under low maternal authoritarian, while demonstrated lower level of fluency and flexibility when experienced high level maternal authoritarian;individuals with more susceptibility alleles(CGSI=2)were inclined to demonstrated higher level of originality in creative problem finding when experienced high level paternal permissive, while demonstrated lower level of originality when experienced low level paternal permissive. This interaction was not shown in the female group.3.The interaction patterns of COMT gene and parenting style on male creative problem finding conformed to differential susceptibility model.
