Question-asking ability is s an important part of creativity.Research in creative scientific problem finding ability can help torichen the theory of creativity, and has an important significance toindividual, but can not be separated from the external environment.This study aims to examine how cognitive style as individualinternal factors play roles in the process that parental rearingstyles affect creative scientific problem finding ability.With questionarys of EMBU,EFT and CSPF, 574 Junior middleschool students are investigated. T-test, ANOVA, correlationanalysis, regression analysis and SEM are used to examine thecharacteristics and relations of cognitive style, parental rearingstyles and creative scientific problem finding ability. The mainconclusions are as follows:1.Junior middle school students have significant differencesamong grades, areas in creative scientific problem finding abilityand its three dimensions of flexibility fluency and originality. Themain effects that grade and area factors influence the creativescientific problem finding ability on the total score are remarkable. The interaction between grade and area is significant. Genderdifferences are existed but not remarkable.2.In terms of parental rearing styles, the gender differences atfather’s punishment dimension, over-interference dimension,rejection and preference dimensions are significant. Dimensions ofmother’s rejection, punishment and preference have significantgender differences too. Area factors are remarkable on the parentalwarmth and understanding, punishment, preference and father’srejection dimensions. In general, junior middle school students’cognitive styles have no significant on their gender, and the maineffect of area factors on it are remarkable.3. There are three dimensions of parental rearing styles, such aswarmth and understanding, punishment, over-protection andover-interference which are related to cognitive style and creativescientific problem finding ability. Rejection and preference have norelation with creative scientific problem finding ability.4.Cognitive style has wholly mediator effect between warmth andunderstanding of parents and creative scientific problem findingability. And it has wholly mediator effect between punishment ofparents and creative scientific problem finding ability, and also asthat between over-protection and over-interference and creativescientific problem finding ability.
