At present, the mainstream view holds that alexithymia is a kind of defect in the process of emotional cognitive processing. In recent years, more and more researchers have found the existence of subtypes of alexithymia. Therefore,it is of great significance to further understand the characteristics of individuals with alexithymia by examining whether all subtypes have emotional cognitive processing defects.According to the attention-appraisal model of alexithymia points out that the alexithymia can be divided into three type: difficulty attention type?difficulty appraising type ? synthesizing type. This model points out that the difficulty appraising type definitely has the deficiency of emotional cognitive processing, because it has the deficiency of emotional processing ability. But the difficulty attention type is not necessarily,When it can choose the information processed by itself, difficulty attention type will preferentially process non-emotional information and show emotional processing defects. However, when difficulty attention type complete the corresponding tasks,it is very likely that there is no defect in emotional cognitive processing. This study combined with previous studies of alexithymia and in the attention-appraisal model of alexithymia on the basis of the discussion what alexithymia subtypes exists on the perception and categorization of emotion.Experiment material from China mood emotion picture system(CAPS).This experiment according to the Toronto alexithymia scale(TAS-20)selection score 61 points of high alexithymia of clustering analysis, all of the participants in the research are 18 college students. The mixed experimental design of 4(difficulty attention type?difficulty appraising type ?synthesizing typeand?normal group)and 6(happiness?sadness?anger?disgust?surprise?fear)was used to perform repeated measurement analysis of variance on the correct rate of emotion matching and emotion labeling tasks and response time of the four groups of subjects.Experiment 1: The emotional matching task was used to test which alexithymia subtypes were deficient in emotional perception. The results showed that the main effect of reaction time of the subjects was significant.Multiple comparative analysis showed that compared with the normal group, the subjects in the evaluation of alexithymia with difficulty had slower reaction time. The main effect of emotion type was significant, and multiple comparative analysis showed that: compared with the reaction to other emotions, the response to happiness was faster and more accurate.Experiment 2:The emotional labeling task was used to test which alexithymia subtypes had the defects of emotional categorization. The results showed that the main effect of reaction time of the subjects was significant. The main effect of emotional types was significant, and multiple comparative analysis showed that the response time to happiness was shorter and the accuracy rate was higher than that to other emotions. Conclusion: there are defects of emotional processing in the difficulty appraising type rather than difficulty attention type.
