The English Curriculum Standard for Compulsory Education(2017)has indeed proposed the significant role of English in compulsory education."As one of the most widely used languages in the world,English has become an important tool for scientific,cultural and international exchanges.English courses in the compulsory education stage can lay a sound foundation for improving the country's international competitiveness and the overall quality of Chinese nationals and international communication ability." English is becoming more and more important.But English as a compulsory course in primary schools starts relatively late and the teachers have no sufficient teaching experience,philosophy and methods.Moreover,it is generally believed that English only belongs to one of the main courses in junior middle schools.The English in primary school is easy,while the junior middle school course is difficult.The transition of English teaching from primary school to junior middle school especially in rural areas are particularly prominent.It requires us to pay attention to English teaching and focus on problems of transition of English teaching from primary schools to junior middle schools.What's worse,most junior middle schools there recruit students from rural with uneven learning ability and most of the pupils just entering a junior high school actually display a strong dislike for English learning.Their learning habits and learning methods can't timely make corresponding change to the teachers' teaching methods and evaluating ways;therefore,problems of the transition of English teaching from primary schools to junior middle schools there are particularly prominent.Based on the theories of Constructivism,Multiple Intelligence and Affective Filter,this thesis is to take students in primary school in grade 6 and junior middle school in grade 1 in Zhecheng county as the research objects to find the current teaching transitional problems between primary and junior middle schools,which include teaching and evaluation methods,communication between teachers and students,basic situation of teachers and students,students' interest and motivation in learning,students' habits and methods in learning.The research on two aspects.1,What are the transition problems of English teaching from primary school to junior middle school? 2,What are the otherness of these transition problems in different learning period?The author collected data under the guidance of English curriculum standard and through the conclusions from the other researchers,such as questionnaires(510students,20teachers),the interview of students and teachers(30 students,20 teachers),observation in class(30 classes).It is discovered that transitional problems in primary and junior middle schools focus on teachers' professional ability,teaching contents,teaching methods,teaching evaluation methods.The communication between teachers is limited.The transition of students' learning interest and motivation is not so good.Students do not have good study habits and methods.Although the relevant research results can provide some help to teachers and students and well documented in English teaching between primary and junior middle schools,it has its own defect.It only investigated in Zhecheng county.Therefore,it is a sampling survey,not large scale survey.The relevant information of teaching in Zhecheng is very limited,so there are many shortcomings.The relevant research is only applicable to poor counties.In the future,teaching transitional problems in English should be consistently paid more attention to promote longitudinal development of research.
