Attentional boosting effect(ABE)refers to subjects were asked to finish both an encoding task(eg.remember images)and a detection task(eg.detecting a white square in a series of black square streams)at the same time in the distraction condition. And the consequence showed that the memory result of the code items that accompany the target stimulus are better than those of the distraction code items that accompany the coding item. However,in the past studies, the detection tasks used were all based on perceptual stimuli, indicating that target detection tasks based on perceptual information can produce ABE.It is not yet clear whether target detection tasks based on semantic information can also produce ABE?First of all,in Experiment lof this study,we use semantic information stimuli replace perceptual stimuli as the detection object of the probe task, and investigate whether the target detection task with semantic information can produce ABE.Therefore,in order to eliminate the ABE found in Experiment 1,this may be due to the fact that subjects mainly rely on the perceptual features of semantic stimuli instead of semantic information to detect the target. Then based on Experiment 1,Experiment 2 uses probing tasks based on semantic judgments instead of perceptually probing tasks, and investigates whether target detection tasks based on semantic judgments also have ABE.The result of experiment 2 found that the target detection task based on semantic judgment also produce obvious ABE.At last,in order to eliminate the ABE found in Experiment 2,it is due to the fact that the single target stimulus makes the semantic judgment detection task mixed with perceptual recognition.Experiment 3 excludes the influence of single target detection stimuli on the basis of experiment 2,and discusses whether the multi-target detection task based on semantic judgment will also produce the attention-promotion effect.Experiment 3 found that multi-objective detection tasks based on semantic judgments also produce attention-promoting effects.Synthesizing the above three experimental results shows that semantic detection can produce the same ABE as perceptual detection.
