The Translation Of Culturally-loaded Words In International Relations Texts

This report is based on the Chinese Academic Translation Project:History of Relations between China and Latin American and Caribbean Countries(Chapter1,Part 1 and 2).The book surveys and sums up the history of Sino-Latin American relations.The text can be classified International Relations Texts which contains many culturally-loaded words.It causes many difficulties in the process of understanding and translating for the translator.The purpose of translation is to allow the readers to accept and understand the relevant aspects of China,delivering information accurately and appropriately in Chinese-English translation materials.Therefore,the writing of such translation practices and translation practice reports has certain practical significance.In the process of translation practice,the main problem encountered by translators is the translation of culturally-loaded words in the text of international relations.The greatest difficulty in translating culturally-loaded words is often not the language itself,but the cultural elements carried by the language.It is necessary to consider both the cultural characteristics of the original text and the readability of the translation.Therefore,the translator clarifies the problems found in the practice of translation and uses the research methods of case analysis to explore the translation strategies from three aspects: social culturally-loaded words,material culturallyloaded words,and linguistic culturally-loaded words.Through this translation practice,the translator has a certain understanding of the cultural heritage carried by the culturally-loaded words in the international relations literature and summarizes the translation strategies of culturally-loaded words.I hope that by expounding the difficulties and solutions encountered in translation practice,I can share new experiences on the translation of culturally-loaded words in theinternational relations literature and bring some reference value for future translators of similar texts.
