| In recent years,research on the relationship between bilingualism and cognition has become a hot topic in China’s bilingualism research.Most of the studies have shown that bilingual experience promoted cognitive development and delayed the degradation of cognitive function in the aging population.As a multi-ethnic province,Yunnan enjoys an exceptional advantage in bilingualism research and education.A good understanding of the cognitive mechanism of bilingualism will help us better explore the relationship between bilingualism and cognitive development,and better promote bilingual education.The contents of this translation project will provide scholars with valuable theoretical and practical references on bilingualism and cognitive mechanism.This report is based on the translating of the third and fourth chapters of Bilingualism and Cognitive Control.Guided by Skopos theory,the translator employed the domestication and foreignization translation strategies with domestication as the major strategy.The author adopted literal translation,transliteration,and free translation,as well as the translation techniques of division,transformation and addition to deal with the source text and produced a target text with good accuracy and fluency.This translation project indicates that the theory,strategy,methods and techniques used are feasible in translating the source text.This report consists of four parts.The first part is the introduction of the source text and its author,as well as the purpose and significance of translation.The second part analyzes the stylistic and linguistic features of the source text,introduces the theories and translation methods adopted,and shows pre-translation preparation and translation process.The third part is case analysis which illustrates how the translator treated the focal points of the source text by giving examples in relation to the translation methods and techniques employed in the practice.The fourth part is a summary of the report which summarized the gains of the translator and points out the limitations of the translation practice. |
