The prehistoric archaeological work in Ganqing region began in the 1920 s.A large number of archaeological materials have been accumulated in the archaeological excavations for nearly a hundred years,and now a complete cultural development sequence of the Neolithic Age has been established.According to the relevant archaeological excavation work,the work on the residential site has not been carried out much,but the cemetery site data are very rich.Therefore,this paper aims to explore the spatial and temporal distribution characteristics of burial sites and its implications from the perspective of "the settlement of death"---the cemetery with the theory of the settlement archaeology.In the chronological order of Majiayao culture types,Banshan-Machang culture types,Qijia Culture,and all the culture of Bronze Age,analyze the comprehensive characteristics of the prehistoric cemetery on the basis of the investigation and excavation works form the settlement pattern and its environmental background,and divide the distribution areas of cemetery in different periods to explore whether there is grade difference or differentiation between different cemeteries in different distribution areas,then analyze the temporal and spatial distribution characteristics according to the number of cemeteries,the scale of cemeteries and the location of cemeteries.Finally,discuss the related issues reflected by the distribution changes of the cemetery under the background of environment and culture.This study holds that the temporal and spatial distribution characteristics of the cemetery in the Ganqing region fully shows the complicated relationship between different social groups,between natural environment and human society at that time.
