From the time of the Han Dynasty, when the first biography of Buddhism spread in China, whether Buddhist Scriptures or Buddhist statues,is closely related to various factors of secular worship in Chinese traditional culture. At first,Buddhism had some similarities with Chinese traditional ideas. In order to spread and develop in China, appropriate compromises and changes have also been made in other aspects;in the dissemination of Buddhist statues, the tomb artifacts, such as money-shaking trees, bronze mirrors, soul bottles and stone pagodas, have been chosen to better reflect secular desires.Whether the Buddha statues which attached to the gods of the West Queen Mother and the feather man,or China's rare beasts image,or the combination of the Eight Diagrams and the Big Dipper Stars, are contrary to the Buddhist judgment of desire.Until before the sixteenth kingdom, the emergence of single Buddhist statues heralded the path of Buddhism's independence towards China,we did not know that Buddhist statues were still immortals full of desire.Buddhist thought and statue objects have been discussed respectively in the introduction part and the current research situation in the field has been summarized. There are four chapters in this study. In the first chapter, concept of secular worship in China in the order of dynasty has been analyzed. The similarities between the smooth introduction of Buddhism and the thought of secular worship in China,in addition to what changes Buddhism has also been studied. In the second chapter, various Buddhist objects from the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, the middle reaches to the lower reaches of the Yangtze River and from the Han Dynasty to the Sixteen Kingdoms are discussed in order of time and space. And the relationship between Buddhist statues and the factors of secular worship in China is analyzed concretely. The third chapter,Beiliang Stone Pagoda is given as an example to analyze the relationship between Buddhism and secular worship in the northern region. In the last chapter, the independent development of Buddhism from secular worship factors andthe development of various Buddhist statue forms with Chinese characteristics have been discussed. But in essence, they are not separated from the impact of Chinese secular worship.
