Pro-social behavior as an observable behavior received the attention of psychologists in 1972.Eisenberg proposed a pro-social behavioral theoretical model for the occurrence of pro-social behavior, which holds that pro-social behavior occurs three times.Stage: The stage of attention to the needs of others, the stage of determining the level of help, the stage of connection between intention and behavior. When he further studied the process of pro-social behavior,he found that the occurrence of pro-social behavior is closely related to emotional intelligence.Mayer proposed the theory of emotional intelligence, which believes that the structure of emotional intelligence contains four basic dimensions: the perception and expression of emotions, the ability to manage emotions, the ability to understand emotions, and the ability to promote thinking.Studies have found that emotional intelligence is an important factor in pro-social behavior, and individuals with lower levels of emotional intelligence have fewer pro-social behaviors. However, under the influence of external conditions, the pro-social behavior of individuals will also change. In the face of help-seeking situations, due to the influence of personality characteristics such as self-esteem,individuals may be indifferent to the onlookers and choose to ignore the help-seekers.In order to further explore the influence of emotional intelligence on pro-social behavior, this study attempts to clarify the role of self-esteem and social support and its mechanism of action through the construction of structural equation models. This study used the Pro-social Behavioral Tendency Scale, the Schutte Emotion Intelligence Questionnaire, the Self-Esteem Scale, and the Social Support Scale to conduct a questionnaire survey of 850 college students from a number of institutions in Northeast China. The questionnaire excluded 67 invalid data and 783 valid data. The study used SPSS and process programs to process data.Based on the results of the model study, the following conclusions are drawn:1.The pro-social behavior of college students is generally at a medium-to-high level, showing a positive trend;significant differences in demographic variables such as gender, political appearance, and attribution;2.Emotional intelligence is significantly positively correlated with pro-social behavior.Individuals with high emotional intelligence show more pro-social behavior;social support is significantly positively correlated with pro-social behavior, and social support can positively predict pro-social behavior;3.Social support plays a mediating effect in the relationship between emotional intelligence and pro-social behavior;4.Self-esteem plays a regulatory effect in the intermediary model of emotional intelligence and pro-social behavior.
