Proactive behavior refers to the positive behavior of individual employees,which is used to improve the current environment or create a new environment."Innovation"and "reform" is the inevitable trend and the era characteristics of the current society.Enterprises trying to find a new breakthrough in many aspects to gain competitive advantage in the market.The organization's success is inseparable from the important role of staff.In order to develop better,the organization has to pay attention to the employee's initiative in the process of realizing the individual goal and the organization goal.The proactive behavior is very important in the process.On the basis of the individual characteristics level,the research investigated the re:lationships Between emotional intelligence,proactive behavior,future work self and employee engagement in enterprises,then exploring the mechanism of emotional intelligence'effection on proactive behavior.371 employees in enterprises and government departments or institutions were investigated with Scale of Emotional Intelligence,Proactive Behavior Questionnaire,Future Work Self Questionnaire and employee engagement in enterprises.The results were as follows:(1)The overall level of emotional intelligence,proactive behavior,future work self and employee engagement in enterprises were above the moderate level.(2)There were no significant differences on variables by years of working and gender for emotional intelligence,proactive behavior,and future work self.But there were significant differences on variables by years of working and gender for employee engagement in enterprises.There were significant differences on variables by Job category for emotional intelligence,proactive behavior,future work self and employee engagement in enterprises.There were no significant differences on variables by Unit of nature and Level of education for proactive behavior and employee engagement in enterprises.But there were significant differences on variables by Unit of nature and Level of education for emotional intelligence and future work self.There were significant differences on variables by age for emotional intelligence,proactive behavior,and employee engagement in enterprises.But There were no significant differences on variables by age for future work self.(3)Emotional intelligence,proactive behavior,future work self and employee engagement in enterprises correlated significantly with each other.(4)Future work self and employee engagementin enterprises played a chain mediating effect between emotional intelligence and proactive behaviorThe conclusions were as follows:(1)Emotional intelligence could positively predict the proactive behavior.(2)Future work self and employee engagement in enterprises mediated the effect of emotional intelligence on proactive behavior.(3)Emotional intelligence could exert effects on proactive behavior through the chain of future work self and employee engagement in enterprises.
