A Report On Translation From The Perspective Of Text Analysis Theory

Nowadays biography has become a relatively independent and complete literary form in the field of literature.Under the background of China's efforts to promote the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative,the study of outstanding figures in foreign culture is becoming increasingly important,and the translation and publication of the biography of foreign celebrities is an important part,so the practical experience and theoretical research on biographical translation are also imperative.The material of this translation project was selected from the 14 th chapter of The Queen Mother,written by the British biographer William Shawcross.The article tells of the great contribution that Queen Elizabeth has made to the United Kingdom during the World War II,recounting in every way the details of the politics,military,culture and daily life in which the Queen was involved.The language is fluent and the details are vividly expressed,and a large number of diary materials,archives and memoirs are quoted to prove its objective authenticity,and because of the historical facts involved,quite a few names of places and people appear in the text,bringing some difficulties to the translation.Besides,because of the special environment in which the protagonist is located,culture is also a difficult point in translation.Therefore,under the guidance of the Text Analysis Theory of the German linguist Nord,the author demonstrates and analyzes linguistic and culture of the text from the levels of intra-textual factors and extra-textual factors,grasping the intention,background and thought of the source text and pondering the characteristics of language expression.This paper consists of five parts.The first chapter is the introduction part,including thebackground and significance of the project as well as the layout of the report.The second chapter is the translation process.The third part is theoretical basis of this translation project,in which the author summarizes the results of the theoretical research on biographical translation both at home and abroad.The fourth chapter is the key part of this paper,the author combines the specific examples in translation practice,respectively,from words,semantics,grammar,textual level,and external factors,that is,cultural dislocation,alleged dislocation,custom dislocation,metaphorical level analysis,and elaborated the translator to solve the problem of the strategy and methods used.The fifth chapter is the summary part.By the end of this translation project,the author has accumulated and summarized some translation methods and techniques guided by the Theory of Text Analysis,as well as the problems and limitations encountered,hoping to enlighten himself and others on the road of biography translation in the future.
