The translating material used in this practice report is the third chapter of “Insights from autism on language and theory of mind” in the book Lexical Pragmatics and Theory of Mind which translated by the translator from June to September,2018.The third chapter of the book focuses on the relationship between verbal communication and mental theory,as well as its application in language acquisition and developmental pathology.Taking the language and non-language of autistic people as the window,the multi-recording and analysis of their common characteristics and cognitive contradictions will contribute to providing linguistic basis for the assessment of autism language barriers in China,and provide services for their integration into society.The translation practice report is composed of five chapters: task description,process description,preparation of translation,case analysis and conclusion.The first chapter mainly describes the source,content and significance of the task.The second chapter mainly describes the process of the translation,including pre-translation preparation stage,translation processing stage,post-translation revision stage.The third chapter mainly describes the translator's preparation of the translation from three aspects,including reading and analyzing the original text,and reviewing and summarizing the proper nouns and specialized vocabularies of lexical pragmatics;reading parallel texts and translations related to pragmatics and psychology in an effort to select words accurately in translation;applying skopos theory to guide translation practice.The fourth chapter is case analysis.From the perspective of this practice report,the translator analyzes the difficult points of words,sentences and paragraphs in the process of translation and solves the problems with some translation skills.In the last chapter,the translator summarizes the task and draws valuable experience.Through this translation practice,the translator has gained a better understanding of the translation of informative text and laid the foundation for future translation.
