This is a report on the translation of Autism: A Very Short Introduction by UtaFrith,which gives a brief and deep introduction of autism. This book mainly involvesthe reasons of autism, the core features of autism, and some research and studys onautism. This report includes four parts. Part One is mainly about project background,objective and significance. Part Two involves the introduction of the author, the maincontent, linguistic features of the source text and the translation theory. Part Three istranslation difficulties and methods. Part Four is the translation experiences andunsolved problems. Based on the translation of this book and previous experiences,the translator has deeply explored the difficulties and translation methods. Thedifficulties are specialized terminology, background knowledge and long sentencesetc. Therefore, the translator has used omission, conversion, and amplification underthe guidance of Skopos theory to enable the target texts faithful, smooth, fluent andnatural in accordance with the expressions of target language.
