In the study of Xu Dishan, the works of the anti-Japanese period have not been valued. This thesis mainly focuses on the literary creation and cultural practice of the Xu Dishan during the Anti-Japanese War from 1937 to 1941.It returns to the literary scene of the 1940 s and examines the literary creation of Xu Dishan at this time in the overall vision of the history of literature and thought. The overall problem awareness of this study is to discuss how Xu Dishan responded to the salvation in a literary way and uncovered a neglected literary history. On the basis of text perusal and historical materials, the author will use narrative theory and post-colonial theory to explain the text structure and text context."Liren" is the core concept of this paper,so the first chapter is to sort out the relationship between Lu Xun's concept and Xu Dishan, and from May 4th to the Anti-Japanese period, what new problems encountered in his "Liren" concept. The author believes that behind the issue of "establishing a person" is to discuss what kind of citizen the ideal society(China)needs. It also reflects the 20 th century era proposition: the connection and contradiction between personal enlightenment and national salvation.Summarizing Xu Dishan's early creation, the similarity with Lu Xun lies in that he also believes that "human" is the key to the fate of the nation. But unlike Lu Xun's appeal for individualism and subjectivism,Xu Dishan, who is familiar with world religion and folklore, proceeds from East Asian culture, boldly combines Chinese Confucian culture with Indian Buddhist culture, integrates Western Christian culture and constructs an ideal citizen. But before the Anti-Japanese War,the issue of "nationality" had hardly entered the works of Xu Dishan directly to shape the ideal human nature. The second section,by analyzing the literary and artistic background of the Anti-Japanese Period and Xu Dishan's literary and artistic activities and essays, finds that the "ideal man/national hero/saint" he expects is often vague, ambiguous and sometimes contradictory. This is a new problem in the period of resistance to Japan. In the third chapter, taking the initiation novel Yuguan as the research object, the author analyses the myth of Xu Dishan's view of establishing human beings through the growth and transformation of two generations.Through the analysis, the author believes that Xu Dishan presents two different ways to establish a person. One is to teach the book with words, the other is to teach knowledge;the other is to teach the book without words, aiming at the cultivation of personal virtue. The latter is Xu Dishan's ideal way to form an "ideal man",and Xu Dishan also has a skeptical attitude towards political "transformation".The last part is about the issue of "Iron Fish Bottom Gill".From Mr.Lei,we can find more profoundly the two sides of Xu Dishan's view of establishing a person. On the one hand,he longed for the people to improve their spiritual quality. On the other hand,Xu Dishan's ideal could not be conveyed, even no one understood it.This is the tragedy of the novel Iron Fish Bottom Gill, from which we can also see Xu Dishan's pessimistic sentiment towards enlightenment. The conclusion is that Xu Dishan's anti-Japanese period creation is a literary creation of the literary writers who consciously respond to the national form.It is also an attempt to save the nation by enlightenment, and points out that Xu Dishan can be used as a reference to examine the thinking and practice of other writers in the border areas.
