Before the Ming dynasty,Sick leave system have been existed for a long time,it gives civil official a right to take a break from their hard-working when they feel sick,and also they can back to work after recovery.As a matter of fact,sick to leave system is a kind of generous treatment for civil official,so that the government can use it to conduct of personal management.The development of sick to leave system in Ming dynasty was basic on the past,meanwhile,it became more stricter and institutionalized.This paper will describe sick leave system of civil official in Ming dynasty in two portions.The first portion is about the specific content and policies of sick leave system,introducing the development of this system from the past till Ming dynasty.Composing emphasis is on the operation of sick leave system,including all provisions through the entire process: asking for sick leave,the period of recuperating,time limit and getting back to the work.The second portion is talking about the special phenomenon of sick pretending in Ming dynasty.This phenomenon is along with the operating of sick leave system.There is a number of civil official ask for leave because of fake illness,so that they can achieve their personal purposes or political goals.Basing on those two portion's analyzing,we can draw a conclusion that sick to leave system of civil official in Ming dynasty has two sides.Firstly,this system can be beneficial to those sicken official to get a rest legally,and also can manifest concern and kindhearted from the emperor.It will urge them to do better work.Secondly,some civil official use this system in order to achieve some personal purposes or political goals,this phenomenon turned sick leave system into a strategy,which had shown a great impact on officer management and political situation.
