With the development of globalization, cultural exchanges between China and the west are increasingly close,in which music translation plays an important role. The book describes the music history in Cambridge from the Middle Age to modern time and is organized in chronological order.I am responsible for the first to fifth chapter.Published by Oleander Press in New York USA,the book is a valuable music material and is kept in Cambridge library but it is absent Chinese version in the world.I was entrusted by my client to finish the translation, together with my partner Liu Bo.The first five chapters are devoted to the analytical material of this practice report. This report consists of five parts: task description, process description, task preparation, and case analysis and practice conclusion.Chapter one includes task introduction, task significance and task requirements;process description,as an overview of the whole project, includes per-translation,the process of translation and the post translation. In the processes of translation I pay much attention to introduce the difficulties and challenges. In the post-translation stage,I integrate the opinions of teachers, experts and clients, and finally complete the revision. The third chapter comprises collecting the background information, analyzing the original text and parallel text and introducing the skopos theory. In the fourth chapter, case analysis is the core part in this practice.Under the guidance of skopos theory,I use different translation skills and techniques from the words and sentences levels to analyze the cases. In the last chapter,I summarize the guiding role of skopos theory in the translation and reflect on the future research direction by combining the deficiencies of current music text translation.Through this translation practice,my translation ability can be improved a lot.
