On 8th June 2018,with the theme of “History,Current Situation,Experience and Problems of Elementary Education between China and the United States”,the International Symposium on Sino-US Elementary Education was held by College of Education Hebei University.Most conventioneers in this symposium were the education specialists from Hebei University and Xavier University.As one of the interpreters of this academic symposium,I served for Mr.Joseph Huynh and Mr.Josh Densen and Dr.Maria Alexander,responsible for interpreting the American experts' speech into Chinese.The report is based this interpreting.The report consists of four chapters which respectively involves task description,task process,cases analysis and conclusion.Chapter 1 makes a brief introduction to the symposium interpreting from background,features and significance.Chapter 2 shows the whole interpreting process from pre-interpreting preparations,interpreting process and postinterpreting reflections,and gives precise descriptions to the key pre-interpreting preparations,especially mental preparations-reception aesthetics,which gives me full theory confidence.In Chapter 3,I analyze the interpreting practice from interpreting skills and interpreting errors,and make a conclusion.It spends a lot of time to analyze the misinterpreting,missing interpreting,delaying interpreting and over-interpreting,and the importance of search quotient for interpreters is also emphasized.As a conclusion,Chapter 4 mainly expresses my understanding of interpreting and reception aesthetics on the basis of this interpretation practice.The purpose of this report is to illustrate that the interpreter should not only master the necessary language and translation skills but also consider the audience's acceptance and effect in consecutive interpreting.
