Fang Yizhi was an outstanding philosopher in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties.He lived in an era of "world collapse",and the whole society was permeated with an atmosphere of empty and shallow.Fang Yizhi was one of a group of scholars who wanted to save the current situation and to change the social atmosphere.He stood in the position of Confucianism and absorbed the content of Western philosophy and technology.He attached great importance to learning and criticized the atmosphere of abandoning learning at that time.This article analysis Fang Yizhi's thought of "learning" by introducing the historical background before Fang Yizhi in the middle and late Ming Dynasty;the inheritance of family teaching and the influence of Western learning.This paper mainly introduces Fang Yizhi's absorption of Western learning and his criticism and development of Confucianism in Song and Ming Dynasties;Fang Yizhi's exegesis of "learning" and his thoughts of using "zhice" and "tongji" simultaneously;his general skepticism spirit which is prominent in his thoughts,starting with doubts and finally "expanding confidence and resolving doubts".
