Fang Yizhi Tong Ya "dialect Material For Study

Tongya is an encyclopaedia styled works which rewrited according to Erya. In resent years, there is an increasing tendency in study Tongya's achievemnt on linguistics. The research on it has also become more and more mature and deep-going. Tongya put lots of efforts on study of dialect. In this book,Mr. Fang not only correctly stated the relative theories of dialect research, even included a great number of dialect materials,one part is the written materials, the other reflects oral materials. Mr. Fang used these materials to explain the meanings of words. This article is trying to do an all-round and deep-going analysis and research on the dialect materials that is requisitioned in Tongya.The dialect materials in Tongya, Some of these pointed out the dialect division, the other not, for example, the sentence"Now, something is called something"or"Now, something in vulgarism is called something."Maybe these situations include dialect materials too,but we need to distinguish those that according to systematic analysis. As the restriction of thesis'length, we only study the materials which pointed out the dialect division. At the same time, we discuss the achievements and shortages, and explore the value of Tongya on the Chinese vocabulary of history.This thesis is divided into five parts. First part give the brief introduction of the Fang Yizhi and Tongya,including the previous study, researching value, dialect materials. Second, we collect Dialect from Tongya, and compare them to Dialect Jiao Jian which is written by Zhou Zumo. We classify these quotations by the degree of difference, and make a typological analysis on the dialect that is requisitioned in Tongya. Third,making a classification on the type of other dialect materials. Fourth,commenting the type of dialect materials that is requisitioned in Tongya. Fifth, making a comparison between Tongya and Dictionary of Chinese dialects, to fill up the deficiency of Dictionary of Chinese dialects.
