Agricultural machinery has promoted the economic growth of the countryside in China. Many Chinese enterprises of agricultural machinery are committed to learning foreign technology and experience and upgrading agricultural technology so as to improve the quality of agricultural products harvested by mechanized technology. However, the agricultural machinery documents written in English and their specific features have brought many challenges to professional personnel who are engaged in this field. Therefore, there is an urgent need for accelerating the translation of the relevant documents. Thus the author translates the English text “Organization and profit-sharing in mechanized sugarcane harvesting: Is Australia's experience relevant to China?” into Chinese,in the hope that he could explore some translation strategies of this kind of document, improve his translation skills, and offer a reference to translators who translate agricultural machinery texts, promoting the communication of science and technology. The first chapter is the task description, which describes the background of the task and introduces the features and contents of the source text. The second chapter discusses the translation process including three parts — preparation, translation and proofreading. The third chapter is the main part in this thesis, first analyzing characteristics of the source text at the level of vocabulary and sentences, and then exploring relevant translation strategies. The fourth chapter is the conclusion which goes over briefly the main points of the translation project and offers the author's reflections and limitations.
