Referring expressions are words that can serve as referential functions.In the new media environment,referring expressions still plays an important position in the news headlines and also shows its unique characteristics and laws.In the new media environment,media type is an important factor of influencing the distribution of referring expressions,there are some differences in the quantity and types of referring expressions used in different types of news headlines.Among them,1000 news headlines and 20 types of media,Star TV media headlines tend to use the referring expressions most,the average use quantity is 2;the workplace recruitment media tend to use the referring expressions least,the average use quantity is 0.5.In the terms of internal distribution,referring expressions can be divided into two parts:pronoun referring expressions and nominal referring expressions.Also pronoun referring expressions can be into two parts:personal pronouns referring expressions and demonstrative pronouns referring expressions.Nominal referring expressions can be divided into proper nouns and the structure of "XX De".Different types of referring expressions can show different characteristics in quantity,direction of referring and content of referring.Each selection and use of the referring expression is not accidental,so the distribution law of news headlines in new media must be explained by certain linguistic theory.For the internal distribution motivation,it can be explained in Accessibility Theory.
