| The translation project report is based on the Chinese-English translation project provided by News and Publicity Department of China-ASEAN Exposition(CAEXPO)and China-ASEAN Business&Investment Summit(CABIS)Command Center.The translation project is to translate Chinese news scripts into English,involving the opening-up situation and unique ethnic culture of Guangxi.The main intention is to provide relevant background materials for foreign media and journalists who participated in the interview activity“Sheer Endeavor of Six Decades--2018 Guangxi in the Eyes of Overseas Media" so that they could get an idea of Guangxi as soon as possible.With the guidance of skopos theory and three principles of publicity translation,the report conducts detailed analysis on the source and target texts.The analysis involves the translating of figures of speech,four-character structure and non-subject sentence in news headlines,translating of culture-loaded words in news body and content editing and translating in news by using case studies.According to the analysis,for the translating of figures of speech in news headlines,literal translation,free translation and omission can be adopted;the translating of four-character structure can be dealt with by using free translation;and the translating of non-subject sentence is mainly conducted by adjusting the sentence structure.For culture-loaded words in news body,free translation,combination of literal translation and amplification as well as combination of transliteration and filling-up translation are adopted in different situations.And the editing and translating of news content is determined by the value of information it carries.Through case studies,the report tries to put forward practicable translation strategies in order to provide reference for the future translation of relevant news text. |
