In recent years,with China's “The Belt and Road” initiative gradually advancing in the Eurasian continent,economic and cultural exchanges between China and Bulgaria have become increasingly frequent,“Chinese fever” also continues to heat up in the local.The author has the honour to be a Chinese volunteer teacher to teach at Bulgaria Chinese Education Center(hereinafter referred to as “Bulgaria & China Education Center”),in the course of 10 months of teaching practice.The author finds that ethnic Chinese teaching in Bulgaria is an important part of teaching Chinese as a foreign language in Bulgaria,but it didn't attract enough attention from educators at home and abroad.Although there are many shortcomings in the teaching of ethnic Chinese language,there are still some places worth understanding and learning from Chinese language educators in the field of ethnic Chinese language teaching.This paper takes Bulgaria Chinese Education Center as an example,investigates and studies the teaching situation of Bulgaria Chinese Education Center,and puts forward corresponding teaching improvement proposals combined with the author's own Chinese teaching experience,hoping to better promote the teaching of local students.In order to show the present situation of ethnic Chinese language teaching in Bulgaria Chinese Education Center,the author discusses from several angles.Firstly,this paper introduces the history and scale of the school,the administration and curriculum,class and time arrangement,teachers and teaching methods,and analyzes the advantages and existing problems of the school.Secondly,questionnaires that investigates the basic situation of students' Chinese learning were sent to students.Based on the feedback results of the questionnaires,the results are summarized and analyzed.Lastly,the author summarizes some existing problems.First,teachers' professional literacy is weak and mobile;second,the selection of teaching materials is unreasonable;third,lack of cultural curriculum;fourth,teaching facilities are backward and lack of extracurricular teaching resources.Aiming at these problems,the author puts forward some suggestions.In terms of teachers,cultivating local full-time teachers,combining Chinese teachers with Chinese foreign teachers,and strengthening the cultivation of teachers' quality and teaching skills based on the Confucius Institute in Sofia.In terms of teaching materials,actively compiling textbooks that are suitable for local Chinese students and improving the relevance of teaching materials and teaching practice.In terms of curriculum,we should set up relevant cultural courses and cultural practice activities,and regularly organize school cultural weeks.In the teaching facilities,we should rationally allocate the school funds and provide a good learning environment for the students.The purpose of this paper is to reveal the situation of ethnic Chinese language teaching in Bulgaria by analyzing the Chinese teaching and learning situation of the school,and try to summarize its experiences and shortcomings.Meanwhile,this paper put forward some suggestions for the existing problems in order to better promote the Chinese teaching of local Chinese students and it also provides relevant information for Chinese and foreign studies on ethnic Chinese language teaching.I sincerely hope that this article will provide some references for the study of ethnic Chinese language teaching to the local and other countries and promotes the development of ethnic Chinese language teaching in eastern Europe under the background of “The Belt and Road”.
