| The international Mandarin education has made a great deal of progress during the past decade while overseas Confucius Institutes have maintained stable development.Conclusions about the Confucius Institute operational situation and an analysis of achievements and drawbacks are benefical to the international Mandarin education pattern.The UK is one of the most important countries connected to Confucius Institute estabishment,while the investigation of British Confucius Institutes is quite rare.Therefore,this essay will operate an investigation based on three Confucius Institutes in Wales,UK as objects of study.Revolving around this investigation,this essay brings in the theory of Macro View of Institute,and selects six most important factors which affect the progress of CI and set up their respective computational formulas to quantitatively analyze all the data.The six factors are Input(I),Scale(S),Multiplicity(M),Localization(L),Altitude(A)and Circumstance(C).At the same time,this thesis introduces a Triangular Pyramid Model with the geometrical thinking,and establishes a one-to-one correspondence between the six factors and the points of triangular pyramid model and forming a Languamid model.We can acknowledge the development situation of a certain CI by observing the Languamid model’s form.Finally,a mathematical formula has been designed in this thesis to judge CI’s Sustainable Total Value(STV),and this value has a positive correlation with the development of CI.Through the investigation,I found that the three Confucius Institutes in Wales,UK should pay more attention on their input and localization.The headquarters of Confucius Institute should increase the input of remote Confucius Inisitutes to provide security for their operation and development.And the institutes should try to gererate revenues by themselves to maintain development and pay more attentain to training local Maindarin teachers aiming to improve their localization level and promote sustaina’ble development.Meanwhile,more collaboration can be planned by the three Confucius Institutes in Wales,like communication,learning from each other,strengthening local characteristics(unique history and culture),and exploring a series of teaching mechods which fit the Wales local people.All these stratergies improve popularization of Mandarin education in Wales. |
