As time goes on,China plays an increasingly important role in the world.China occupies a preponderate place in the social channel and studying Chinese language has become a worldwide trend in as much as its social is greatly developing in an exponential way.The Cameroonian government promotes foreign language teaching through the Ministry of Education.All public schools offer foreign language courses,mainly Spanish,German,Arabic,Italian and Chinese.Most universities and privates institutes also offer foreign language courses,but there is only one translation institute in Cameroon which offers teaching Chinese courses.This survey investigates the various aspects of teaching Chinese in higher institute of translation and interpretation through questionnaires,and designs questionnaires for students and teachers.By observing the situation of learners,the use of teaching materials,curriculum equipment,teachers and Chinese culture,a clearer and more intuitive understanding of teaching Chinese at the Higher institute of Translation and interpretation in Cameroon.In addition,in order to have a more comprehensive understanding of teaching Chinese,we also consulted the relevant research reports of previous people.This work is structured in the following way;In the introduction,we present the reasons of the topic,the purpose and significance of the research,the research ideas and research methodologies,the summary of previous documents and literature review and the distinguishing peculiarity of this survey.The first chapter gives a brief account of the basic situation of teaching Chinese at the Higher Institute of Translation and Interpretation in Cameroon.The main content of this part is to introduce the history background of teaching Chinese,the department of teaching personnel,curriculum equipment and teaching materials.The second chapter is about the investigation,data collection and analysis of the undergraduate students related to the situation of teaching Chinese at the Higher Institute of Translation and Interpretation in Cameroon.This section includes questionnaires of students and teachers.The fourth chapter is focused to the related problems of teaching,learning Chinese of the Higher Institute of Translation and Interpretation and proposes pedagogic solutions,implications and methods.This paper mainly investigates and studies the situation of teaching Chinese at the Higher Institute of Translation and Interpretation in Cameroon.Through the description of the current situation of teaching Chinese in that school,we have put forward the existing problems of teaching Chinese in that institute;we have also analyzed the causes,and put forward some suggestions and advices.Through the survey results and interviews,there is a need qualified Chinese teacher,to use adequate Chinese textbooks,teaching methods and materials,and to develop a good language environment.In order to promote the teaching Chinese in translation schools in Cameroon,it is important to train the teaching Chinese personnel in order to improve the quality of teaching Chinese.Furthermore,this paper can be used to spread the improvement of personal teaching skills.
