The Belt and Road Initiative brings about more business cooperation between China and neighboring countries, which thus leads to greater demand for simultaneous interpreting(SI)service and higher expectations on SI quality. This is a practice report on the C-E simultaneous interpreting at 2017 Longquanyi Honey Peach Promotion Conference, with Interpretive Theory being its theoretical basis. The author mainly discusses the strategies adopted to cope with difficulties in the practice and analyzes demerits such as misinterpretation and miss of interpretation in the SI performance so as to provide a reference for future SI practices and take targeted measures to improve interpreting quality.Based on “cognitive inputs” and “deverbalization” in Interpretive Theory, the author analyzes the four strategies employed in the task with concrete cases, namely, anticipation, explanation, omission and generalization. The notion of cognitive inputs provides theoretical support for such strategies as anticipation and explanation whereas the notion of deverbalization provides theoretical support for such strategies as omission and generalization. In addition, the author also attempts to find out demerits like miss of interpretation and misinterpretation existing in the task,to analyze the causes of them, and to put forward possible solutions. The author comes to the following conclusions from writing the thesis.Firstly, cognitive inputs can help reduce the barriers of comprehension in SI,thus decreasing the frequency of misinterpretation and miss of interpretation.Making adequate pre-task preparations is an effective way to enrich interpreters' cognitive baggage.Secondly,in the light of the notion of cognitive inputs, interpreters could employ strategies such as anticipation and explanation in SI.Anticipation can be used to cope with speeches of high delivery rate while explanation can help produce a version that is easy to understand for the audience.Lastly, based on the concept of deverbalization, which suggests that interpreters should free from the shackles of linguistic forms of the source language and convey the sense of speech, interpreters are advised to use strategies like omission and generalization.Omission can be adopted to handle redundant information so as to produce unequivocal and concise version whereas generalization can help interpreters convey the general sense of contents characterized by enumeration or elegant diction.
