A Report On The Translation Of JUFE Profiles:A Skopos Approach

The website of a university works as a window for publicity.It is of practical significance to study the translation of university profiles because they are the first hand information for potential groups to quickly know about a desire university.The ST is the profiles of Jiangxi University of Finance and economics(JUFE)and some of its Schools.The target readers are overseas students or scholars.The writer chose Skopos Theory as a theoretic foundation.The thesis was demonstrated by antitheses.Through a comparative analysis of the Source Text(ST)with Parallel Text(PT),and PT with the Revised Translation(RT),the report found that Skopos Theory is valid to guide the website translation of JUFE profiles and provided with some corresponding translation methods and strategies.When there are huge differences between the ST and TT,skopos rule should be highlighted.In dealing with the wordy ST,the translation employed omission and non-translation to make effective information into full play;to achieve better acceptability and readability,the coherence rule should be welcomed and simplification and generalization should be employed;when translating important information,the fidelity rule should be strengthened and literal translation should be used to achieve equivalent translation,achieving same readers effects between the source text and the target text.
