A Study On Chinese Teaching Of Confucius Institute At The University Of The South Pacific In Fiji

The paper's research topic is the situation of Chinese teaching of Confucius Institute at the university of the South Pacific in Fiji,with the theories of second language teaching and educational psychology as a guide.This dissertation presents us the current situation of Chinese teaching in the Confucius Institute of USP in Fiji with questionnaire method and interview method as the main ways of research,in order to provide useful advice for Chinese language teachers and the development of CI-USP in the future.The dissertation is divided into five parts:the first part is the introduction.It discusses the background,significance,ideas and methods of the topic selection,and summarizes the research in related fields.The second part not only summarizes the history and current situation of Chinese teaching in Fiji,but also reviews the development of Confucius Institute in USP,including Chinese teaching and cultural promotion.The third part is the most important part of this dissertation.Based on the data of questionnaires and the result of interviews,The dissertation generalized and described a detailed current situation of Chinese Teaching at CI-USP which covers curriculum,textbooks,Chinese teachers,learners,class teaching and HSK exam.The fourth part is the SWOT analysis on the Chinese language teaching of CI-USP,uncovering Strengths,Weakness,Opportunities and Threats.The author put forward some detailed and feasible measures to solve these problems from the following three sections:analyze the needs of students regularly,establish teaching archives,and innovate the teaching curriculum;promote the localization of teacher training and compile native Fijian teaching materials;establish a distance education system and network data platform to benefit wider area in the South Pacific to BUPT's advantage.The fifth part makes a summary and reflection on the results of the full text.Little research of Chinese teaching in the Pacific region has been done for the lack of resources.The author hope that this report can reflect the present situation of Chinese Teaching of Confucius Institute at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji,which bsed on a questionnaire survey and in-depth interviews,and make up for gaps about research on the Chinese Teaching of Confucius Institute in Fiji to a certain extent,to make more people have a real and objective understanding on the present situation of Chinese Teaching of Confucius Institute in Fiji.
