The form of music documentary is a kind of documentary which has short development time,its rising cannot be separated from the prosperity and development of rock music.Film art is a combination of visual language and auditory language,both of which occupied a very important position in the documentary.As far as the current research is concerned,most of them focus on the analysis of narration and subject,but there is no analyzing of documentary which close attention to the auditory language.Based on the research and analysis of the audio and video materials and text materials of the music documentary,as well as the working progress of the music documentary ‘Young Man' which made by author,this paper have studied and analyzed the auditory language of the music documentary,and trying to sum up the general characteristics of using auditory language in the music documentary creation.This article is divided into five parts,the first chapter discusses the origin of music documentaries,that is,the development of music documentary.Music documentary did not emerge with the birth of documentary,but with the rising of rock music.This chapter divides the development of music documentaries into two parts,that is foreign development and domestic development.The second chapter discussed the composition of the auditory language of music documentary.In the first part of this chapter,the author divides the constituent elements of music documentary into two categories,respectively,is objective voice and subjective voice.Objective voice contains interview,music,environment sound,subjective voice contain explanation and music.The second part of the chapter summarized the characteristic of construction of sound language,respectively,is the objective sound massive use,embodiment of authenticity,narrating in the language of music,and weakening commentary.The third chapter summarizes and analyzes the role of auditory language in music documentaries,which based on the author's works and relevant films.its roles is to depict characters,promote narrative development,deepen themes,change space and time,connect the past and the future,render atmosphere and create a sense of space and presence.The fourth chapter is the comprehensive analysis of the author's work ‘Young Man',which described from the aspect of the early planning,shooting practice,postediting,encountered problems respectively.
