The adverb of degree is an important part in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.As a subset of adverbs,low-magnitude adverbs can be combined with a large number of objects for its unique internal characteristics,although the number is small.Even Chinese native speakers feel uncertain to identify the differences and similarities of low-magnitude adverbs.Obviously,it will be harder for foreign students.They’re often confused and prone to make mistakes.Based on the research results of low-magnitude adverbs made by scholars,the author made a survey of the status quo of use through the questionnaire for foreign students and collecting the biased errors in “HSK dynamic composition corpus”.Combining the layouts of low-magnitude adverbs in three series of teaching materials including Road to Success,HSK Standard Course and Developing Chinese,the author presents some proposals.This paper mainly includes five parts:The first chapter is introduction.It mainly introduces the study origin,study ideas and corpus sources.At the same time,the author makes a summary of the previous studies from three parts including the classification of degree adverbs,the ontological study of low-magnitude adverbs and the study of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.The second chapter describes the syntactic and semantic of the eight low-magnitude adverbs studied in this paper,compares the differences and similarities of the three groups of low-magnitude adverbs and summarizes the common formats used of modify the adjective,verb and other components.In chapter three,the author investigates the biased errors of low-magnitude adverbs made by foreign students.Through the questionnaire and “HSK dynamic composition corpus”,it is summarized that foreign students often have errors including disordering,omission,false substitution and false addition.And the usages of false substitution and false addition are more than others.In addition,the author also realizes that foreign students cannot understand how to use two adverbs together,and cannot distinguish the different usages of “Duoshao”.In chapter four,it obverses the arrangement and distribution characteristics of low-magnitude adverbs in three textbooks from four aspects,including “occurrence frequency”,“distribution”,“combination object” and “annotation”.Compared withother two textbooks,the author realizes that the occurrence frequency and combination object of low-magnitude adverbs in Road to Success are much more.In Developing Chinese,the occurrence of low-magnitude adverbs is rare.But compared with HSK standard course,this book covers a comprehensive range of related points,and the composite objects and modification formats are much more.In HSK standard course,there are no “lüewei” and “Duoshao” which are low-magnitude adverbs,and the explanations of low-magnitude adverbs are relatively simple.In general,based on teaching requirements and students’ needs,these three textbooks are compiled according to their respective reference outlines.It conforms to the principles and requirements of compiling textbooks for teaching Chinese as a foreign language.However,there three textbooks still have shortcomings,for example,the explanations of “Youdian” group are not comprehensive,the arrangements of “Bijiao” group are different,and the degree of “Shaowei” group is not enough.In chapter five,combining with the ontology knowledge of low-magnitude adverbs,the usage of foreign students and the layout of textbooks,the author puts forward some suggestions on the compilation of low-magnitude adverbs in TCSL textbooks.From the perspective of ontology knowledge,we suggest that textbooks should add contents in the following three aspects: the practice of low-magnitude adverbs’ mutual use,the explanation of special sentence structures of “Shaowei” and “ADV+AP/VP” format.From the perspective of biased errors,we think that the advanced teaching materials should introduce the different usages of the “Duoshao” and “Youxie”,and pay more attention to the “Shaowei”.From the perspective of textbook,we think that it’s necessary to improve the annotation of “Youdian” group,optimize the proportion of“Bijiao” group,adjust the order and annotation of “Shaowei” group,and optimize exercise column and English interpretation etc.
