A Preliminary Study On Material Performance Of Early Dunhuang Frescoes And Its Application In Creative Practice

Dunhuang murals are known as the most classical relics of ancient Chinese painting using mineral colors,with thousands of years of artistic style,astonishing quantity and quality,which have important academic value and connotation.However,in the books of ancient painting history and contemporary art history,little attention has been paid to the material performance of murals and the specific application methods of mineral color.How to use mineral pigments to draw works of art with more characteristics of Chinese painting still has a lot of creative space,and more material languages of mineral pigments need to be excavated step by step on the basis of artistic practice.From the perspective of my own painting,the author analyses the inheritance and presentation of mineral pigments from the material language of murals,which is of great inspiration to creation.
