"Stories of Chinese People's Lives ?"is a newly published set of textbooks for teaching Chinese as a second language.It introduces ordinary Chinese people's life to Chinese learners and tells them about the day of ordinary Chinese people of different ages and industries,it also introduces Chinese culture in this way.It has a prominent feature of presenting everyday life and presenting reality.This research is based on this set of textbooks.From the perspective of Empirical Culturology,research on textbooks,focusing on the exploration of cultural elements in textbooks,combining theory with practice,it is expected to find some deficiencies in the preparation of relevant textbooks and try to propose targeted advice.This paper is divided into four chapters,the first chapter is the introduction,the second,third and fourth chapters are the main parts of this paper.The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly introduces the research background and significance,research content and methods,research difficulties and innovations,and summarizes the literature from the three aspects:Chinese teaching materials for foreigners,foreign Chinese cultural teaching and Empirical Culturology.The second chapter makes a statistical analysis of the selection and presentation of the cultural elements of“Stories of Chinese People's Lives ?",and introduces the textbooks and research perspective-Empirical Culturology.We divide the cultural elements with reference to Zhang Zhanyi's,Chen Guanglei's,Lu Wei's classification of cultural elements and the "National Chinese Teaching General Course Outline".We also use the quantitative analysis method to analyze the statistical elements of the cultural elements in the textbooks.The way in which the elements are presented is described and analyzed.On this basis,we point out the shortcomings in the choice and presentation of cultural elements in“Stories of Chinese People's Lives ?".The third chapter is an examination of the Chinese culture learning tendency of foreign students coming to China.The questionnaire survey mainly examines the contents of three aspects.First,we want to know the students' preference for the content and type of texts in the textbooks.Second,the survey investigates students'interestingness of different cultural elements.Third,we intend to find out which kind of Chinese culture's learning style and presentation form that foreign students like.The fourth chapter combines the statistical data of the second chapter and the survey results of the third chapter,and puts forward some suggestions for the compilation of relevant Chinese textbooks for foreigners from the perspective of Empirical Culturology,including:attention and conciseness of experiential culture,narrative and interpretation of experiential culture,appeal and response to cultural understanding,emphasis and application on perception of experience,interaction between experiential culture and communicative competence and so on.
